Woman hit and killed on Gene Snyder identified

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car early Sunday on the Gene Snyder. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car early Sunday on the Gene Snyder.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car early Sunday on the Gene Snyder.

According to the coroner, Karen Tipton, 41, died from multiple blunt force injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene around 2:45 a.m.

Louisville Metro Police said that just after 1:00, a driver hit Tipton on I-265 between National Turnpike and I-65. The driver stopped and called police.

The woman was apparently walking in the middle of the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons when she was hit.

LMPD Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
