Two people shot in Evansville on W. Oregon Street - News, Weather & Sports

EPD: Two hospitalized after shootings; could be gang related

A pregnant woman was shot in the stomach during an early Monday morning shooting.

Officers say multiple suspects attacked her and her uncle inside their home on Oregon Street while her two young children were asleep.

Police say 25-year-old Angie Mueller was shot in the abdomen and 52-year-old Mark Baughn was shot in the leg. Both were treated at a local hospital and are recovering. Family tells us the baby is still alive as well.

Officers were called to a home in the 100 block of West Oregon Street around 2:00 Monday morning. Police say multiple suspects fired several shots. Neighbors say Mueller's two young children were home during the shooting, but were not hurt.

Police say when they arrived, Angie was able to give investigators information on the possible suspects.

But just minutes after officers arrived, they were called to a second shooting less than two miles away in the 400 block of Morton Avenue. Two windows were hit by bullets, but no one was hurt.

Police believe the second shooting may have been retaliation for the Oregon Street shooting. Officers also believe both shootings are gang related, which has neighbors concerned.

Police did recover at least one handgun during their investigation. Detectives are working to put together a case before any suspects are questioned or arrested.

EPD is asking anyone with information to call them at 436-7979 or the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.
