LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police have arrested an Indianapolis man for pulling quick changing scheme on a convenience store clerk.

An arrest warrant states that on October 12, Charles Crabtree, 49, of Indianapolis, presented a $100 bill to a store clerk at a Speedway convenience store on Lyndon Lane and asked for change.

After getting change for the $100, Crabtree repeatedly asked the clerk for change for more bills and caused the clerk to become confused. When the clerk finally realized what was happening, a count of the cash drawer was conducted. The drawer was short nearly $600.

During their investigation, Graymoor-Devondale police learned Crabtree has been arrested on November 14 for doing the same thing at the Walmart on Diann Marie Road.

Crabtree was arrested January 10 in a courtroom at the Hall of Justice. He was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on one count of theft by unlawful taking over $500.
