HODGENVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Hodgenville's mayor and city clerk both pleaded not guilty Tuesday during their arraignment hearings in LaRue Circuit Court.

Mayor Terry Cruse and City Clerk Madonna Hornback were indicted in December on numerous charges. Cruse was indicted on nine counts of abuse of the public trust, one count of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of forgery, and two counts of campaign contribution restrictions and expenditure limits. Hornback was indicted on 54 counts of abuse of the public trust and one count of theft by unlawful taking.

In June 2013, Kentucky State Police troopers seized documents from Cruse's office during a raid.

Cruse and Hornback are represented by the same attorney despite a judge's recommendation that they hire separate lawyers in the event a conflict of interest arises.

They two will be tried together. Their trial is scheduled to begin on June 9.
