BOWLING GREEN, KY (WAVE) - A Bowling Green man was stabbed while trying to protect a woman from a knife-wielding assailant, according to the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

James Lindsey, 40, suffered a stab wound to his side during the altercation Sunday at a home in the 600 block of Mt. Olivet Road in Bowling Green. The incident happened while four children, ages 8, 2, 6 months and 17 months,  were inside the home.

Deputies said Sarah Stevens, 31, came to the home around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, pulled out a knife and began swinging it wildly. Lindsey had stepped in to protect Loretta Chapman when he was stabbed, according to deputies.

Stevens fled the scene. She was located and arrested in the 1300 block of Kenilwood Way.

Stevens is charged with second-degree assault and five counts of wanton endangerment. She was lodged at the Warren County Jail.
