Heavier snow now forecast; Winter Storm Warning issued for parts of Kentuckiana

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - JEFFERSON COUNTY UNDER WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UNTIL 1 PM

Most of the snow will fall this morning with accumulations of 2"-3" across WAVE Country.  We could see some higher amounts in spots for southern Indiana and northern Kentucky.

The main impact of this winter system will be the slick roads that will develop with temperatures dropping below freezing this morning, then snow covering icy spots.

Temperatures will be falling today instead of warming up. Winds will also be picking up as we head through the day. This will give us single digit wind chills this afternoon, and near zero wind chills tonight.

The bitter cold weather sticks around for the rest of the week.

FORECAST

Today: Morning snow. Partly sunny and cold afternoon with temps falling into the teens. Wind chills will be in the single digits.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and cold. Low: 8° (Wind chills near 0°)

Wednesday: 20% snow chance. Mostly cloudy. High: 23° Low: 9°

More than 200 schools and businesses are closed or on a delayed schedule today. Read the full list on the Closings page under the Weather tab of wave3.com.
