JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – In southern Indiana side streets were blanketed with snow and main streets filled with snow slush. Cars left outside were piled high with snow and schools were out. However, for most people it wasn't the snow fall that bothered them as much as the wind gusts.

"I like the snow it's not too bad for me but that wind factor really gets to you," Derrick Straight said.

"It's the wind blowing the snow on your face," Jackie Lowery said.

High winds and heavy snowfall caused visibility problems on the road.

Road crews worked to make paths drivable but for those who had to brave the cold without a heated car there was a strategy. Keep your head down and block as much wind with your back as possible.

"It really doesn't hurt that bad," Straight said. "My beard started to freeze over a little bit but I'm dealing with it."

The winds were rough but for some they loved the view

"Oh no it was beautiful for me. Just beautiful watching it from east to west, beautiful," Karen Hamby said.

Fun for some, frigid for others, a January morning brings it all.
