LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The man Louisville Metro Police arrested after a January 20 shooting in the Shelby Park neighborhood has appeared before a judge on the many charges placed against him.

According to an arrest report, Jaylin Tyrice Bell, 18, of Louisville, was with two other men when confronted three people under the age of 18. The report states when Bell and his companions flashed guns the young men they were confronting ran from the scene. However, Bell and his friends gave chase firing shots at the fleeing juveniles.

One of the young men was hit by gunfire. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound. His friends were able to identify Bell as one of the men who confronted and fired on them.

Bell was arrested after he and his companions were seen by LMPD officers working a crime reduction detail running down an alley. That was around the same time as police were being dispatched on the shooting run. Police said Bell was holding something under his shirt when he ran behind a home in the 400 block of Marret Avenue.

A few moments later, officers found a sawed-off shotgun hidden in junk next to a shed behind the same house. A few moments later, Bell, who had buried himself under some junk close to where the shotgun was found, jumped up from his hiding spot and ran form police. When officers caught him on Jackson Street just north of Marret Avenue, they said Bell resisted arrest and police had to use force to detain him.

Bell was arrested on one count of assault, two counts of wanton endangerment, one count each of fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and resisting arrest. He was arraigned on January 21 and will be back in court on January 31.
