LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE ) - A victim of a home burglary shot and wounded one of three people who broke down the back door of the home in Shively.

According to police, the three suspects first knocked on the door and rang the doorbell just after midnight on January 10. When no one answered, they entered the home by smashing the back door.

One of the two people inside the home fired at the suspects, hitting one of them, 23-year-old Derrick Weaver. Police said Weaver left the scene in a motor vehicle and drove to a Marathon at 3401 Breckinridge Lane. An employee called EMS, and Weaver was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. His injury was not life-threatening.

The other two suspects got away on foot. Weaver later identified them from a photo pack.

Davon L. Adams was arrested January 19. The status of the third suspect is unknown.

Weaver and Adams are charged with first-degree burglary.
