LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A stolen lottery ticket turned in for cash led police to a suspect in a gas station burglary.

Police said Dwayne Horne, 55, received lottery tickets which were stolen from the Cecil Service Center gas station on South 8th Street in downtown Louisville on December 28, 2013.

Horne cashed one of the winning tickets at a BP on West Broadway about a mile from the service center, according to an arrest warrant.

Cecil Service Center reported a break in to and noted property had been taken, including lottery tickets.

The Kentucky Lotto notified officers when one of the stolen tickets was cashed and an investigation led police to discover Horne on video surveillance at the BP.

Horne was arrested on two outstanding warrants following the incident.

In a mirandized statement, the suspect admitted to police he was the person on video surveillance.

Horne is charged with first degree unlawful access to a computer and receiving stolen property.
