A Perry County woman has been indicted on charges that she stole more than $200,000 from a pair of businesses, the TBI said Thursday.

Janice M. Duncan, 60, worked for a local CPA firm. But beginning in 2007, she allegedly used corporate checks from two clients to pay off personal debts, investigators said.

Duncan had been responsible for the financial accounts at both companies, and the businesses lost as much as $217,375, according to the TBI.

Agents began investigating Duncan in May 2013 after a request from the district attorney. She was indicted on Jan. 21 and arrested two days later.

Duncan faces two counts of theft of property over $60,000 and one count of theft of property over $1,000.

She was booked into the Decatur County Jail on $50,000 bond.
