Weather delays first day of scheduled underground tunnel blasting

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Crews have been blasting above ground since the summer to create the tunnels that will connect Interstate 265 to the new bridge being built in northeastern Jefferson County. The blasting work was scheduled to move underground today, but thanks to the cold weather it was canceled.

Underground blasting is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday of next week. The blasting will occur between 7a.m. and 8 a.m., however the weather could change those plans.

Traffic in the area will not be stopped for the underground blasting, but police will stop traffic for periods of up to 20 minutes for the surface blasting twice each day.
