Road conditions improve as temperatures rise, crew remove snow

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Road conditions were improving across parts of Kentuckiana Saturday afternoon.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Andrea Clifford said roads had vastly improved because temperatures rose to the mid-30s by afternoon and because of the continued efforts of KYTC road crews.

Jefferson and Spencer County crews reported wet pavement. Crews in all other counties in KYTC District 5 – Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Oldham, Shelby and Trimble Counties – reported partly covered roads.

KYTC staff planned to work Saturday afternoon and evening if necessary to clear all routes.

In addition, one eastbound lane of the Bluegrass Parkway reopened at mile marker 52 in Anderson County between Elizabethtown and Lexington by late Saturday morning. All eastbound lanes had been closed early Saturday morning after a multi-vehicle accident involving a snow removal vehicle.

A Hazardous Travel Watch issued for Floyd County, Indiana was due to expire at 4 p.m. Saturday. It was requested that until then, travel be limited to emergencies and work-related travel.
