WALTON, KY (FOX19) -

The Boone County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday released the identities of a Northern Kentucky couple who had to be extricated from their Ford Focus on northbound Interstate 75 Monday evening after being trapped from a tractor trailer that was on top of their car.

The sheriff's office said Fredrick Brown, 50, of Fort Mitchell, Ala., was operating a 2007 tractor trailer in the center of three lanes.

Christopher York, 33, of Verona, was driving a 2002 Ford Focus with Anna Speier, 44, of Bromley, as his passenger. The Ford was in the left lane beside the tractor trailer.

The sheriff's office said initial indications are that the tractor trailer driver moved to his left, striking the Ford and pinning the car up against a concrete barrier wall as the two vehicles traveled together. The tractor trailer ultimately was on top of the car.

The Walton Fire Department cut a door from the car and removed the couple who were flown via medical helicopters with reported non-life threatening injuries.

Brown -- the tractor trailer driver -- was not hurt.

All northbound traffic was stopped until heavy rescue equipment could be moved to allow one lane to open.

The accident happened at approximately 6:55 p.m.
