LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Police make an arrest in a six-year-old cold case after a suspect contacts them to admit to the murder.

The crime occurred in August of 2007. Marcelline Vale, 86, died after receiving a fatal injection of insulin while living at Parkway Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

On January 27, 2014, more than six years after her death, police said they received a call from David Satterfield, 34, confessing he gave Vale an insulin injection "with the intent to kill her."

According to Satterfield's arrest report, the medical examiner's opinion of Vale's death was complications arising from hypoglycemia "associated with an elevated insulin level" as a result of an insulin shot.

Satterfield is charged with murder.

A motive for the crime has not been revealed.
