Reds, Chapman agree to $5 million deal for 2014


TheCincinnati Reds and closer Aroldis Chapman have agreed to a one-year, $5million contract.

Chapman was eligible for arbitration for the first time thisoffseason.

Chapman's new contract comes following a compromise between theReds organization and the "Cuban Missile." Sources say that Chapmanfiled for $5.4 million while the club countered with $4.6 million. 

Chapman will remain under Reds control through the 2015 seasonwhen he will become a free agent.

Brian Price announced during the 2014 reds Caravan that the organization anticipates that Chapman willpitch more in the eighth inning this season.
