LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – While opening a business Friday morning, an employee was robbed and shot.

According to MetroSafe, a woman was opening the Captain D's on Dixie Highway around 7:30. During the robbery, the employee was shot, but the injury is not life-threatening. She was taken to the hospital.

The suspect, a black male dressed in dark clothing, fled the scene with some cash.

Ben Jackey with JCPS said nearby Valley High School enforced extra security for about 25 minutes around the time of the incident. They were not on lock down, just a higher level of security including monitoring movement in the halls and the entrance to the school.

Valley High School has returned to normal.
