Woman admits pawning $5,700 stolen violin for $40 to support drug habit

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Brooks woman admitted to police that she sold a stolen violin for a fraction of its worth to support her drug habit.

According to a police report, Sonya L. Morris, 31, pawned the violin for $40 at Cash America Pawn on Preston Highway. The violin is worth $5,700.

Morris told police she stole the instrument and pawned it to pay for spice.

Morris is charged with theft by unlawful taking.
