MOUNT STERLING, KY (WAVE) – A fire in Eastern Kentucky claims the life of one man.

Two houses caught fire early Sunday morning in Mount Sterling. Firefighters found downed electrical lines in the area, but they do not think that started the fire.

Five people were in the home where the fire started. Two adults and two children made it out safely, but one man died in the blaze. He was only staying in the home one night.

One survivor suffered second-degree burns.

The cause remains under investigation. This is the 17th person who has died in a Kentucky house fire this week.
