House total loss after fire in Mt. Washington

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Around 40 firefighters worked for over an hour to put out flames after a home caught fire near Mt. Washington.

According to Bullitt County EMA Director Mike Riordan, the fire started around 4:10 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Markwell Lane.

Fire officials said they believe the fire started in the lower level of a two-story home.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The house is considered a total loss. The Red Cross is assisting the residents of the home.
