Portion of I-71 shut down due to injury accident

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Emergency crews are on the scene of an injury accident involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle on Interstate 71.

According to Oldham County dispatchers, the wreck happened in the southbound lanes of I-71, near the 18 mile marker, around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

All southbound lanes near the scene of the crash are shut down. Police are advising drivers to avoid the area.

Two people in the pass anger were injured. The extent of their injuries have not been released. The cause of the wreck under investigation.
