Mother, daughter beaten by group; baseball bat may have been used

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville mother suspects she was beaten with a baseball bat by several people who first attacked the woman's 17-year-old daughter at their home.

According to an arrest report, Tory L. Baker, 21, and three other people arrived at the victims' home uninvited on January 18 and knocked on the door. The 17-year-old girl answered and then tried to close the door on the suspects. The girl was pulled outside and was hit and kicked multiple times by the suspects, police said.

The girl's mother was struck by the suspects when she tried to intervene, according to the report. The victim told police one of the suspects hit her repeatedly in the head with a blunt object, which she believes was a bat.

The victim told police the suspects have had ongoing issues with her daughter and that the altercation lasted about 20 minutes.

The suspects left the scene, and the woman called police to report the incident.

The victim was treated at University of Louisville Hospital for her injuries, which included a concussion and a neck injury. The neck injury required her to wear a brace. She also received six stitches and was treated for another open abrasion on her head. The arrest report states the victim will require ongoing medical care.

Baker is charged with fourth-degree assault. The status of the other suspects is unknown.
