Tax preparer accused of stealing client's wallet, using stolen credit card

SHIVELY, KY (WAVE) - A tax preparer is accused of stealing a client's wallet and making unauthorized purchases with her credit card.

Police said Yaimy Real Marrero, 23, took the victim's wallet when she accidentally left it on Marrero's desk after getting her taxes done at Liberty Taxes in the 4600 block of Dixie Highway on January 31.

According to an arrest report, Marrero denied taking the wallet when the victim returned looking for it, but several coworkers told the victim they saw Yaimy with it. The victim immediately contacted Shively police to report the incident.

Police said Marrero made two unauthorized purchases with the card, but she returned wallet on February 2 called saying she had video that placed Marrero at a gas station at the time of an unauthorized purchase. The victim's social security card and credit card were missing from the wallet when it was returned.

Marrero is charged with theft of property and fraudulent use of a credit card.
