Columbus Ohio – February 13, 2014 /MarketersMedia/ —
With Spring just around the corner, a lot of homeowners are looking into refreshing their house’s appearance and upgrading the house’s paint. While potential customers are still in search mode for design and color ideas, industry leaders have already elaborated on what is going to be trendy in 2014.
Color trends are as fluid as paint itself, and are often times influenced by such factors as popular recent cultural trends, fashion styles, and, of course, the opinion of interior design gurus. Moreover, oftentimes homeowners pick colors based on their personal preferences that are strongly influenced by the location of their residence, overall house design and feel, and even the emotional state that they are in while picking the color for their next project.
“We have noticed that people tend to choose colors that seem to appeal specifically to them,” said Terry Mauger, owner of Mauger Painting, a prominent Columbus-based painting company. “When we come to their house, we notice small details like their decoration pieces, the color of their cars, and so on. Then we realize that their color choice was not all that random.”
Nonetheless, painting giants, such as Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moor, are pretty much in agreement on what is going to be the most popular colors this year. Both of them are using such keywords as muted, serene, and simplicity to describe their expectations of the color trends.
“I suppose this trend emerged from the fact that people are no longer afraid to play with bold colors, lively patterns, and bright accents in their declaration pieces, so the color of the walls plays just a support role,” said Mauger.
At the same time, for those who are used to experimenting with bright juicy colors, Elle Dcor has some good news. According to them, the color of the year is “Radiant Orchid.” While this bold color provides a pop of color for those who are hesitant to experiment with pattern usage, it also provides a deep and calm feeling for those who are looking for a lower-key house upgrade.
Therefore, calm colors combined with edgy patterns and decoration accents seem to dominate homeowners’ preferences this year. Simple, yet deep, this year’s colors will set a perfect stage for experimenting with room furnishings.
