LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An argument over a cell phone has led to the arrest of a man on assault charges.
An arrest warrant says Joshua Paul Atkins, 24, was in a car with his girlfriend and her child on February 12 when he and the woman started arguing about a cell phone he thought she had.
The warrant states Atkins pulled the keys out of the ignition and put the car in park. Atkins is them accused of grabbing the woman's hair as she tried to get out of the car, holding her down and choking her. The woman was free herself and get out of the car.
Police said Atkins drove off in his girlfriend's car with her phone, leaving the woman and her child stranded in a parking lot.
Atkins was arrested February 13 at the couple's home. He was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of wanton endangerment, assault, terroristic threatening and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
