LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police were able to capture one of two people involved in a shoplifting from a store at Oxmoor Center.

According to a LMPD arrest report, Ronald C. Hooker, 26, and a woman identified as Jessica Allen selected two items worth $546 at Von Maur, but left the store without the items. Once outside the store, the reports says Hooker, Allen and the three children with them loitered in the parking lot for a short time before Allen put the children into the vehicle and got into the driver's seat. Hooker then went back into Von Maur, grabbed the items they previously selected and fled.

A uniformed Louisville Metro Police gave chase to Hooker who was trying to get into the vehicle which Allen had driven up to the door of the store to pick him up.

With the officer close behind, Hooker was unable to get into the vehicle and continued to flee on foot. Police say Allen drive the vehicle recklessly in the parking lot trying to get close enough to pick up Hooker. Allen was eventually arrested after he fell while running in the parking lot.

Allen has been charged with theft by unlawful taking and fleeing or evading police.
