Shani Davis, Julia Mancuso compete for gold; Sochi mascot gets stuck

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Events are heating up around Sochi with women's alpine skiing and men's speed skating among the events held tonight.

Lindsey Vonn was considered a favorite for this event, until an injury forced her to drop out. Now Team U.S.A. is looking to Julia Mancuso, who is looking to add an Olympic gold medal to her collection.

Men's short track is the best event for top American J.R. Celski, who rebounded from suffering a seven-inch gash in his leg at the Vancouver Olympic Trials to win two bronze medals at those games.
