Sunrise to Go: Olympic Edition - Monday, February 17

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Winter Olympics continue today in Sochi, Russia and on NBC and WAVE 3 News! Here are five things you need to know about the games:

1. Brutal bobsled crash – A two-woman bobsled team from Brazil endured a nasty crash during training. Watching the video, it's hard to believe they weren't seriously injured.

2. Ice dancing history – Two skaters for Team USA posted the highest score in Olympic history during Sunday's short program. The free dance is today, and Davis and White are one performance away from bringing home gold.

3. For God and country – Dallas Robinson, a Kentucky native, is competing today in the two-man bobsled event. His mother said he's proud of America and thankful for all his blessings.

4. Day 9 happenings – From an emotional medal finish, to a hat trick in hockey and a record performance in ice dancing, Team USA had a pretty good day at the Olympics Sunday. Make sure you didn't miss any of the action.

5. What's on tonightClick here for the full schedule of Olympic events throughout the day and during NBC primetime beginning tonight at 8. Fog is descending on Sochi today, causing the postponement of multiple outdoor events, which may affect what sports are shown during primetime.

1. Warmer week ahead – Our high temperature is in the 40s today! But the warmer weather also brings a chance for rain and storms. Stay with the WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team as they monitor the rain fall across WAVE Country.

2. Presidents Day – Today we celebrate the birthday of former President George Washington. The post office, as well as some government offices and banks, will be closed today.

3. Future of democracy  – The University of Louisville's McConnell Center will offer a free, public talk tonight on "God and Country: Religion and the Future of Democracy in America." It's at 6 p.m. in Ekstrom Library's Chao Auditorium.

4. Longer school day – The school day just got longer for students in Seymour, Indiana. To make up for snow days, the school board decided to extend school. Elementary students are now in until 4:15 p.m. and middle and high schools release at 4:30 p.m.

5. Taste of 502 – The Taste of 502 kicks off 502 Restaurant Week. Tonight you can sample food and drinks from many of Louisville's premier restaurants. And starting Wednesday, local favorites will offer a discounted menu for diners looking to try something new.
