Police find man in stolen car driving with unrestrained child

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – When police pulled over a car that had been reported stolen the found another crime in progress, one that was endangering a young life.

The stolen car was spotted in the 1200 block of W. Hill Street around 4:50 p.m. February 15. The arrest report said the driver, Eric Dewayne Traynor, 34, had glazed eyes, was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. Louisville Metro Police officers said two open containers of Colt 45 were in the back seat of the car.

Police said Traynor, who was driving on a suspended license, had his nephew, age 3, in the front passenger seat. The child was not in an approved car seat.

Traynor was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle on a suspended or revoked license, failure to use a child restraint device, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and wanton endangerment.
