LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Louisville housing market is improving with a 15 to 20 percent increase in home sales year to year. While the average price for a home in Louisville in 2013 was $176,000 there is one home in the city listed for $4.7 million.

On a bluff above the Ohio River Rebel's Run Farm sits behind a set of beautiful gates on Mayo Lane, off U.S. 42 in Prospect. The 10,000 square foot home is named after Rebel, one of the horses that calls the property home.

The sellers built the house six years ago.

"This house was designed with outdoors in mind," said realtor Cissy Maloney, with Kentucky Select Properties. "Windows top to bottom."

With a total of 80 windows it is easy to take in views of the horses, pool, spring fed pond and waterfall from inside the home.

The owners wanted the 46-acre property to serve as a retreat and filled it with special finds, like a chandelier from the Stewart Dry Goods Co. in downtown Louisville.

A quick trip to the basement of the home and it's clear the area is meant for parties. In addition to a full size bar there's a separate room just for wine and of course, bourbon.

There's also a home theatre in the basement and a workout room that rivals those found in fine hotels.

An elevator takes guests up to the main floor where the master bedroom features more windows offering views of the property. In the room there are two closets - hers has enough space for a large shoe collection and Derby hats.

Maloney said for anyone who love horses, the barn really makes the home special. It even has a family room. Upstairs there are doors that will drop hay down into the stalls. It's no wonder the horses are happy here.
