LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Winter Olympics continue today in Sochi, Russia and on NBC and WAVE 3 News! Here are five things you need to know about the games:

1. Rad Dad club – Olympic champion David Wise says he's part of the "Rad Dad" club. Find out what inspired him during his run for the gold in halfpipe skiing.

2. Gold in sight – U.S. Olympic skier Ted Ligety is halfway to a gold medal in men's giant slalom. His first run Wednesday morning left him in the top spot. Tune in to primetime Olympic coverage tonight to see if he can bring home a medal.  You can view a live stream of any event through NBC Live Extra.

3. Center stage – One Olympic medal winner in Sochi was at the last winter games... as a wax technician! Alex Deibold took the bronze in Tuesday's snowboard cross, an event he would have helped get boards ready for in Vancouver.

4. Get to know Gracie – Today in Sochi the Ladies Short Program in Figure Skating gets underway as American Gracie Gold makes her Olympic debut. Get to know Gracie and cheer her on in her fight to the podium!

1. Another beautiful day – WAVE Country gets another beautiful day today with highs in the 50s. The WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team is monitoring possible severe weather which may come into the area Thursday.

2. I-64 lane closure – Today only, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is closing a portion of I-64 east in Shelby County for drainage repairs.

3. KentuckyOne layoffs – After a series of mergers, KentuckyOne Health is faced with finding ways to cut $218 million in expenses in the next 17 months. On February 17, the layoffs began.

4. Governor returns from Germany – Today, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear should be returning from an economic development trip in Germany that focused on the automotive industry. Tune in to WAVE 3 News tonight for the latest on his trip.

5. Bluegrass pipeline debate – The pipeline explosion that rattled a small Adair County town last week may have also blown chances for the proposed Bluegrass pipeline to gain support. Lawmakers plan to discuss the proposal today in Frankfort. We'll have the latest on WAVE 3 News.
