Pink Ribbon Program

The Pink Ribbon Program is an exercise based recovery program for breast cancer survivors who are at least 6 weeks post-op and have been released by their physicians. It is based on Pilates principles and incorporates mild stretching and strengthening of the arms, shoulder, back, and chest. It is designed to help survivors to regain their mobility and to help with residual pain, but maybe most important, to help restore their sense of wholeness and well being.

The first Pink Ribbon Class, which started in January and is on Wednesdays at 4:30, was made possible with a grant from the Floyd Memorial Hospital Foundation. Due to the overwhelming response and success of this class, the Foundation decided to fund a second class, which will be on Wednesdays at 5:30. Because of the generosity of these grants provided by the Foundation, both classes are free of charge to all participants. They currently have survivors from Floyd and Clark counties, and several from the Louisville area.

Their mission is to strengthen communities and schools by training youth and adults to build and sustain positive relationships. They do this by providing learning experiences to reduce violence, enhance personal integrity and foster mutual respect. They teach conflict resolution, peer mediation and prejudice reduction.
