Indiana man in stable condition after Chesterfield Police chase, crash

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

An Indiana man faces several charges as he recovers from injuries in a crash in Chesterfield following a police chase.

Police tried to stop Michael S. Siegfried, 44, around midnight Thursday near Route 10 after reports of a stolen vehicle. Police say Siegfried sped off, eventually crashing in the 100 block of Ruffin Mill Rd, which is near Enon Church Road and Ramblewood Drive.

Seigfried is in the hospital in stable condition. He has been charged with possession of a schedule I/II controlled substance, grand larceny (for the stolen vehicle), attempt to elude police, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

The north lane was closed for several hours for the investigation. No bystanders or police officers were injured.
