PROSPECT, KY (WAVE) - A group of firefighters from the Harrods Creek Fire Department were honored for saving a woman and her five cats from a burning home.

On a recent morning, Joyce Miller was leaving her Prospect home when her ADT monitored smoke detector activated. When the security company called Miller seconds later she was able to tell them she was seeing floor to ceiling flames from an upstairs bedroom.

At the ceremony, Miller was reunited with her rescuers.

"I'm so grateful for what's happened in that I had a good system and a good fire department," said Miller. They were here Johnny on the spot."

ADT also awarded the Harrods Creek Fire Department with a $5,000 grant.
