SHEPHERDSVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi on Interstate 65 in Bullitt County.

Just after 9:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian in the northbound lanes of I-65 near mile marker 117.

Officers said upon arrival they found a man who had been struck by a tractor trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Bullitt County Coroner identified the victim as William Crump, Jr., 54, of Shepherdsville. It is still unclear why he was on the interstate but officials say he was just walking and did not have a car on the side of the road.

Two lanes of northbound I-65 were shutdown for more than three hours following the crash. No one else was injured.

The Shepherdsville Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is requested to contact them at (502) 921-1000.
