GOSHEN, KY (WAVE) – A boil water advisory is in effect in the Goshen community of Oldham County, Kentucky.

The Louisville Water Company announced the advisory just after 10 a.m. Tuesday. It is a result of a water main break Monday night which led to "a loss of pressure and an elevated storage tank with limited supply," said a spokesperson.

Louisville Water estimates 3,400 customers will be affected as they continue to make repairs throughout the day Tuesday. Goshen residents may experience no water or intermittent water service and pressure.

According to a press release put out by Louisville Water, the advisory is a precaution to ensure the safety of the water supply until water quality tests confirm the water is safe to drink.

As part of the advisory, customers need to:

  • Bring all water used for drinking, food preparation and cooking to a rolling boil for three minutes before consuming
  • Not use chilled water lines on refrigerators
  • Not use ice from automatic ice dispensers

This story will be updated when the advisory is lifted.
