LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:

1. Bitter cold is backBitterly cold temperatures are back with a vengeance today, with our high coming in about 25 degrees below the average high temperature for this time of year. The WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team lets you know how long the latest cold snap will last.

2. School closings & delays – Snow fell across WAVE Country last night and this morning, with some areas getting hit harder than others. Several schools are closed or delayed this morning so check out the full list on wave3.com.

3. Flags at half staff – In honor of Master Sgt. Aaron C. Torian, a Marine from Paducah who died in combat, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear orders all flags to be flown at half staff across the state today. Master Sgt. Torian was 36 when he was killed in Afghanistan.

4. SWAT in Shelby Co. – A standoff lasted around six hours overnight after Shelbyville Police tried to serve a warrant and were met by a man brandishing a long gun. Eventually gun fire was exchanged was the suspect was killed.

5. Recruit behind bars – A top recruit for UofL football faces a felony charge for a sex-related crime. Now the 17 year old, 6'3" linebacker may never play for the Cards.

6. Rape suspect wanted – The Radcliff Police Department released a composite sketch of person suspected of raping a 17 year old girl earlier this month. They're asking people with information to step forward.

7. The Louisville Story Young people at the Academy of Shawnee will soon be published authors, sharing their stories of hard knocks, inspiration and evolution with the world.

8. Shop around healthcare – Many people shop around to find the best price for a car or TV, but accept medical costs without checking for an alternative. Before you have a medical procedure, doing some research could save you a lot of money.

9. Downtown casino Mayor Greg Fischer and Churchill Downs are pushing for a casino in Louisville.

10. Kentucky exports – Kentucky manufacturing is getting a slice of the international pie. Small businesses are exporting big, making Kentucky second in the nation for exporting growth according to the U.S. Department of Commerce.
