LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville man was arrested after he tried to cash a life insurance check that turned out to be a fake.

According to reports Corey R. Logan, 20, went to Chase Bank at 416 West Jefferson around 10:30 a.m. February 25 and tried to cash the check for nearly $3,500. Logan said that he received the life insurance check for his grandmother's death and though it was ok to cash it.

The report said bank managers called the insurance company on the check. When told the check stated "valid after 6 months" and didn't list any of the company addresses, the insurance company said the check was a fraud.

Logan has been charged with second degree forgery.
