Thieves make 19 purchases with stolen credit cards

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police say thieves who broke into several cars in January and stole credit cards have made 19 different purchases.

Clayton Chapman, 32, and a co-defendant are accused of using six stolen credit cards to make purchases at various locations in Jefferson County. According to his arrest report, Chapman and his co-defendant purchased gift cards at several places and later used to make purchases.

LMPD was able to trace one of the gift cards to the Walmart in Dixie Highway in Valley Station where the the co-defendant used a WIC card with his name to make a purchase. Reports said that police were able to positively identify both with video surveillance.

Chapman and co-defendant were arrested Chapman is charged with fraudulent use of a credit card and theft by deception. Police said he and the co-defendant were arrested together in Jefferson County for similar incidents.
