LOUISVILLE, KY (AP) - The founder of a Bible-themed museum who recently debated evolution with TV's "Science Guy" Bill Nye says the event helped to boost enthusiasm among investors in a project to build a 510-foot Noah's Ark.

Creation Museum founder Ken Ham said on a webcast Thursday night that a municipal bond offering to fund the theme-park attraction has raised enough money to begin construction on the wooden ark.

Ham told reporters that the debate "helped encourage more of our ministry friends to get involved in the past few weeks." The city where the ark will be built issued the bonds.

Nye said by phone that he was disappointed the project would go forward and hopes it "goes out of business."

Ham says the ark will cost about $73 million.
