LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville emergency room will be shut down.

KentuckyOne Health announced Thursday the emergency room at Jewish Hospital Medical Center Northeast will close its doors for good at 7 a.m. April 1.

The company cited low demand as the reason behind the decision.

According to KentuckyOne each employee whose position will be eliminated because of the closure will be given priority consideration if they apply for other open positions in the company. Employees who decide to leave the company will be given a severance and extended employee assistance plan benefits.

All other services at Jewish Hospital Medical Center Northeast will continue and be provided from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
