LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – More than 145 people signed up to shave their head to help beat childhood cancer.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Elementary School held their third annual St. Baldrick's fundraising event March 1 in Lady of Lourdes gym on Breckenridge Lane.

The event raised more than $75,000 this year to benefit childhood cancer.

Bearcats for Baldrick's began at 6:30 p.m. where participants either shaved their hair or donated 6 to 10 inches. Participants enjoyed food, music, photo booth, face painting  and a silent and live auction.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
