Statewide tornado drill scheduled for 10:07 a.m. Wednesday

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – On Wednesday, March 5, WAVE 3 News will join the National Weather Service, Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee and the Kentucky Broadcasters Association for an annual statewide tornado drill.

At 10:07 a.m. EST viewers in Kentucky will see an emergency test message on their television screens and hear emergency alert tones and sirens. NOAA weather radios will also be activated.

Wednesday's test is a higher level test than the monthly tests and will interrupt the TODAY Show.

Anyone who hears the emergency alerts should not be alarmed. The test is just part of making sure you can stay up to date when there actually is an emergency.

The test was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 3, but was rescheduled so students attending schools that canceled classes could participate in tornado drills.
