LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two people were killed and one person was injured in a single vehicle crash near Bowman Field.

According to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the three people were in a Ford Fusion heading east on Taylorsville Road when the driver of the car lost control and wrecked into a utility pole near Bettie Lane, just after 10 p.m. Monday.

Mitchell said a man and a woman who were in the two front seats of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger in the back seat was taken to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. The extent of the third passenger's injuries have not been released.

Police have not released the identities of the man, woman or third passenger in the crash.

Mitchell said as of Monday night it was unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the crash and whether ice on the roads were a factor.
