WASHINGTON COUNTY, IN, (WAVE) - Three teenagers were airlifted to a Louisville hospital after a serious two-vehicle crash in rural Washington County Tuesday afternoon.

A preliminary investigation by Indiana State Police and the Washington County Sheriff's Department revealed a white 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling south on Becks Mill Road near Posey Chapel Road just after 4 p.m. Tuesday when the driver crested a hill, lost control, crossed the center line and slammed into a northbound 2000 Ford F-350 pickup truck. The driver of the pickup drove off the east side of Becks Mill Road in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the vehicle was still hit.

According to Indiana State Police, the Cavalier was driven by Dakota L. Bowling, 18, of Salem. The front seat passenger was identified as Serena Durgins, 19, of Fredericksburg. The back seat passenger was identified as Cody Lavens, 18, of Fredericksburg. Police said Bowling and Durgins were wearing their seat belts, but Lavens was not. All three of them were flown to University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, Jared T. Green, 41, of Fredericksburg, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash, police said.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
