LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The owner of a motel in southwestern Louisville Metro was arrested after he pointed a gun at officers during an investigation.
His arrest report says Winfred L. Sumner, 77, became upset that officers were at Biff's Motel in the 13300 block of Dixie Highway conducting an investigation around 10 p.m. March 4. When Sumner approached an officer, he had his right hand in his pocket. After being told to show his hands, Sumner pulled a gun from the jacket pocket and pointed it the officer.
Police said Sumner refused to lower the gun until another officer arrived and again ordered him to lower the weapon. Sumner then placed the gun back in his jacket pocket and surrendered to officers.
Sumner, who police said admitted to drinking earlier, was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place and wanton endangerment.
