LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A woman has been charged with burglary after Louisville Metro Police say she stole and made out personal checks belonging to her grandmother.
Brittany Embry, 23, was arrested February 24 in Jessamine County on an outstanding Jefferson County warrant. Embry is accused of entering her grandmother's home between February 5 and February 9 and taking several personal checks.
The warrant says Embry wrote four checks to her boyfriend and signed her grandmother's name to them. The boyfriend then presented and cashed the checks at U.S. Bank.
Embry's grandmother learned of the stolen checks when she was contacted by the bank. Police said Embry admitted to the crime in a taped statement.
Embry is being held at the Jessamine County Detention Center.
