Reds looking for "Honorary Bat Girl" to bat against breast cancer


The Cincinnati Reds and Major League Baseball are searching for an "Honorary Bat Girl" in the fight against breast cancer.

The 2014 Honorary Bat Girl Contest is an MLB initiative to raise awareness and support for the breast cancer cause. Fans are encouraged to submit stories about how they, or someone they know, are "going to bat against breast cancer," and why they'd like to be chosen.

The Reds winner at Great American Ball Park will be recognized during pregame ceremonies against the Colorado Rockies, which is scheduled for Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11.

She'll also receive complimentary tickets to the 1:10 p.m. game, a Louisville Slugger pink bat engraved with the winner's name, a commemorative jersey and pink wrist bands.

Fans can share their story on One winner representing each MLB team will be selected by a panel of judges.
