NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana woman who pleaded guilty to murder charges in a Kentucky man's shooting death has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Thirty-two-year-old Lisa Shuler of New Albany apologized during Wednesday's hearing in a Floyd County courtroom for last May's fatal shooting of 49-year-old Charles Pierce of Louisville, Ky.
The News and Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1ngUT9e ) Pierce's mother, Mildred Pierce, says Shuler's apology wasn't sincere and the 45-year sentence isn't enough.
Shuler called 911 after the shooting and told authorities Pierce was a home intruder, but later told investigators he entered her home and the two engaged in "rape fantasy" role play.
Prosecutors say Shuler also said she feared Pierce intended to pass photos of them having sex on to her estranged husband. She pleaded guilty in January.
