A statement released Friday by Keith Sparks of McCoy & Sparks regarding Tony Satterly read;

"Tony made the decision to resign. He gave notice to Mayor Sheckles and Chief McCubbin this week. He didn't want the allegations and rumors to affect his friends on the force.  He wishes the department well, and is ready to move forward with his life.  When all of this is said and done, everyone will see that there is very little of public interest here."

Satterly, who has been with the Bardstown Police Department for more than 10 years and was awarded Officer of the Year in 2009, was placed on paid administrative leave in February as a result of the investigation.

Knochel did not release details involving the investigation but said the case against Satterly will be presented in front of a grand jury March 19.
